Australasia Restaurant Entrance
Anyone who has walked through Manchester’s Spinningfields district will have seen the striking entrance to the Australasia Restaurant outside the Armani Store.
The restaurant is situated underneath the busy Deansgate road and the entrance comprises a glass ‘pyramid’ structure over descending steps. But how many people have wondered how creating such an entrance was achieved?
The answer is that we at National Drilling created the opening using a track saw to cut the concrete into small sections, carefully lifting each section with lifting eyes and a gantry, and us removing waste concrete and tidying the site. Because of the city-centre location of the site and the potential disruption to thousands of pedestrians, works had to take place on a Sunday morning and be completed within a strict time frame of 1 working day.
