Diamond Wire Sawing for Fast & Flexible Cuts

Tracy Diamond Wire Sawing Diamond Wire Sawing

Diamond wire sawing is a technique used by the experienced team of National Drilling Services operators on larger structures. In today’s environment, as construction teams are in demand more than ever, having a machine that can make fast and flexible cuts is welcomed by construction managers and foreman at sites across the UK. Diamond wire sawing is ideal for cutting reinforced concrete where it is not possible to use track sawing techniques. National Drilling Services has a team of trained and experienced operators. They can come to your site around the clock to fit with any restrictions regarding the access arrangements or to avoid working in similar areas with too many other contractors or site workers.

How does diamond wire sawing work?

Diamond wire sawing works as the name suggests. A series of wires also referred to as multi-stranded cables are fed though a pulley system. These cables are fitted with diamond beads which as you may be aware is one of the hardest substances available. The friction of the cable or wire with the sharp diamond edges as it is continuously threaded through the series of pulleys cuts through the masonry and reinforced concrete rapidly.

What are the noise and dust risks associated with diamond wire sawing?

Another benefit for using this method, apart from the ability to make fast and flexible cuts, is there is very low noise levels, no fumes and barely any dust. The reason for the lack of dust despite cutting through dense masonry is because we use water to keep the wire cool which has the secondary advantage of keeping the dust down. National Drilling Services are very focused on health and safety at work so using techniques such as this, which are low noise, low dust and fume free all benefit our operators and those working nearby. Another advantage of our diamond wire sawing technique is that it is operated remotely, so is non percussive and also takes the controller away from any risks associated with the cutting process.

How deep can the cuts be using diamond wire sawing?

Using this diamond wire sawing technique of cutting through heavily reinforced concreted and hard structures the National Drilling Services team can make cuts of unlimited depths. Not only is it fast and accurate but it leaves no damage to the remaining structures. You can find out more about our diamond wire sawing process on our dedicated service web page.
